Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is your beef grass-fed?
A: Yes. We raise our cattle from beginning to end on the range and in the pasture. When it comes to finishing the animal, we are proud to offer 100% grass-fed AND-finished.
Q: Where do you get your beef?
A: All our beef is born, bred, and raised on the family ranch in Washington.
Q: About how many pounds are in a WHOLE beef at butcher?
A: About 360lbs of delicious grass fed and finished beef.
Q: Who butchers your beef?
A: We process our beef at a USDA Inspected meat processing company, in Odessa, Washington.
Q: How will my beef be packaged?
A: All your beef will come in vacuum-sealed packages.
Q: Will I be able to track my package?
A: Yes. We work closely with FedEx to ensure quality service and timely deliveries. You will be notified when your package has shipped and also be given your tracking number.
Q: When will my package be sent to me?
A: We ship the second Monday of every month!
Q: Is your beef flash frozen?
A: Yes. The butcher flash freezes all beef cuts once it's been packaged. This preserves the freshness and quality better than regular freezing and keeps the meat naturally red in appearance.
Q: Are there any additives to your beef?
A: No. You are getting a 100% natural product, unlike store-bought beef that uses additives to keep meat red in appearance.
Q: What is dry-aging?
A: Dry aging is a natural process that tenderizes the meat, concentrates flavors, and removes water. When you purchase dry-aged ground beef, you’re not paying extra for the water weight found in conventional ground beef (up to 30% of its weight!).
Q: Is your beef dry-aged?
A: Yes. We work closely with the butcher on all our butchering specifications, one of them being how long the beef is aged for. We dry-age our beef for 1-2 weeks unlike store-bought beef, for optimum flavor and tenderness.
Q: Do you give your cattle growth hormones or steroids?
A: No. We don't believe in using growth hormones or steroids, as they can lead to tougher meat.
Q: Do you use antibiotics?
A: We are stewards of our animals and the environment. If an animal becomes sick, we treat it with antibiotics only if necessary, usually just once.
Q: Will I have room in my freezer?
A: Our most popular package is the 25-pound package, which is about a cubic foot of space and fits easily into an ordinary home refrigerator freezer.
Q: Do you vaccinate your cattle?
A: Yes, we vaccinate our cattle for specific diseases like brucellosis and common respiratory infections, ensuring their health and welfare.
Q: What weight are the ground beef packages?
A: Ground beef and stew meat come in 1-pound packages.
